This week we’d like to share with you one of our favorite resources for supporting both parents and educators interested in 21st century skills. P21, the Partnership for 21st Century Learning, is one of the major organizations supporting new ways of thinking about the future of education.
P21's mission is to serve as catalyst for 21st century learning to build collaborative partnerships among education, business, community, and government leaders so that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a world where change is constant and learning never stops.
P21 recognizes that all learners need educational experiences in school and beyond, from cradle to career, to build knowledge and skills for success in a globally and digitally interconnected world.
Above and Beyond
Above and Beyond is an animated film that shows “how the 4Cs: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity - complement and strengthen traditional school instruction (P21).” It was written and illustrated by best-selling children's book author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds. We share this video with parents and educators who attend our sessions and workshops. It’s a great conversation starter for groups interested in pursuing the mindsets and skills of creativity. Click on the image below to view video.
Curiosita Teaching and P21
P21 publishes a weekly on-line publication called Blogazine, It is filled with ideas and resources to support integrating the 4 C’s into all teaching and learning. We were selected as guest authors for two of their weekly posts. The Blogazine follows a monthly theme and our submissions discussed a model for creativity and how standards are impacting teaching with and for creativity. Click below to read more.
P21 archives all the past Blogazine posts of some very interesting thought leaders in education: Zhao, Fogarty, Fullan, McTighe, etc. They cover a host of topics – STEM, PBL, Personalized Learning, Digital Tools, Parent and Student Engagement and much, much more! We highly recommend reading and sharing this resource with other interested parents and educators. The posts clearly show a very strong following and support structure for integrating the 4 C’s into all teaching and learning.

“A tribe is a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea. For millions of years, human beings have been part of one tribe or another. A group needs only two things to be a tribe: a shared interest and a way to communicate.”
